A Message from The Law Office of Jursinski & Murphy regarding COVID-19 as of June 1, 2020.
As the efforts to combat COVID-19 seem to be working and businesses are able to start reopening, we are happy to announce that the Law Office of Jursinski & Murphy, along with our affiliated title company, Title Masters, have reopened our doors for clients and visitors.
Following Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ “stay-at-home” mandate of April 1, 2020, our office has been closed to clients and daily foot-traffic. However, since our line of work, along with our affiliated title company, falls into the financial services sector, our work is identified as part of “critical infrastructure by the Department of Homeland Security”, and is categorized as essential businesses. Therefore, our firm remained working throughout the pandemic.
Safety is our Main Priority:
Now that our office is back open for clients and visitors, we want to continue to keep our office free of the the virus. We ask that if you plan on visiting, you take a quick questionnaire to determine if you may be at risk for transmitting COVID-19:
If you answered “YES” to any of the above questions, we ask that you contact our office prior to arriving. We may be able to best handle your matter remotely without the need for you to come into the office.
For those of you who answered “NO” to all of the questions, we want to let you know that we continue to implement safety precautions around the office and have done so since the start of the pandemic. Prior to Governor DeSantis’ mandate on April 1, our office had already been practicing the “safe distance and sanitation” protocol. In fact, our offices, conference rooms, restrooms and common areas are cleaned and sanitized frequently thorough the day. In our client designated areas, we are cleaning and sanitizing before and after each meeting. Additionally, our conference rooms are set up so that we can meet with small groups of people while maintaining the recommended social distance of 6-10 feet. Our staff is currently maintaining social distancing as they are working in their individual offices, not cubicles.
For those clients who visit our office:
We appreciate your understanding while we continue to put safety as our main priority during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Small Business Assistance
Many of our clients are the owners of small business here in Southwest Florida and around the country. With the COVID-19 pandemic still wreaking havoc on the economy and costing may people their employment, we encourage our small business owner clients to visit the Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Assistance Application’s website: https://covid19relief.sba.gov/#/ . Here, you can apply for the federal government’s loan to assist with economic losses and employment assistance during due to the pandemic.
Keep in mind, with the number of small businesses looking for financial assistance at this time, there is a slowdown in the normal processing of loans. To help you determine if or when to apply, please read this article: https://www.bbva.com/en/how-the-government-shutdown-affects-your-small-business-administration-sba-loan/
For our real estate clients, we are seeing an uptick in clients calling to ask a variety of questions related to their investments, sales or purchases. Specifically, we are getting a lot of calls asking about cancelling or withdrawing from real estate contracts. Keep in mind, there may be serious ramifications for doing this.
Additionally, we are also seeing an increase in Buyer’s wanting to take occupancy prior to closing or, conversely, Seller’s wanting to stay in occupancy following a closing. Again, these scenarios could be major issues in the long run.
We’ve published two articles addressing the Pitfalls of Pre-Closing and Post-Closing Occupancy Agreements and on How COVID is affecting Real Estate in Florida. You can read both articles on our website: https://www.kfjlaw.com/news/published-articles/. If you need further assistance, please contact our office.
We are hoping that we can shed some light in this dark time and assist our clients and our real estate colleagues so they are educated on issues that may come up due to the pandemic. Please contact us if you have any questions: (239) 337-1147.
